Honda Z50 Minitrail

Its the US the Honda monkey is known as the honda minitrail. They were sold in the 1970`s in the US. They were also exported to europe at this time. Honda continued to produce the monkey bike for the japanese market and they actually still make the honda monkey bike today. he design has changed alittle and they have added many limited edition models. I will go into more detail about these limited edition monkey bikes in another hub.

The monkey bike looks abit comical. Its a small 49cc engine. The whole bike weighs about 54kg. But they are really fun to ride, and to me they are a classic motorbike. Now if you wish to customize your monkey bike there is a whole market dedicated to doing this. With lots of japanese parts manufacturers who make parts exclusively for the monkey Z50. These parts will also fit the honda gorilla as they are practically the same. Except the honda gorilla has a bigger tank.

There are lots of chiese parts manufacturers who make wheels,pedals,handle bars, mufflers etc. usually the quality is alot lower than the japanese parts. Of course the price is alot lower too. Still, I reccommend the japanese made parts by takegawa,G`craft,Kitaco etc. hey are better made from better materials and will most liley last longer.

I still notice alot of used monkey minitrails selling on ebay.com The fast that they are still running and look great is testament to the quality and durability of Honda motorcycles.

So, if you want a fun bike to commute or ride on. A bike that makes people smile whe they see it. Then get yourself some retro cool street cred with a honda monkey bike. If you have the cash, you can pimp it out with alloy wheels and a fat muffler.
